Last year’s the Handmaids Tale was a big TV smash written by Canadian Literary Treasure Margaret Atwood.

Now you would think with the shows success that Atwood would have made a ton of money off it…wrong.  In an interview with WealthSimple, Atwood says that she “sold the rights to MGM in 1990 to make a movie – so when the TV rights were sold to Hulu, the money went to MGM.”

She also went on to say that all the Hollywood excitement surrounding the show really isn’t happening to her BUT she is on the show as an executive consultant and  her book sales have been brisk.

That should continue as HULU is currently filming season 2.
