We are only two months away from kicking off Canada’s 150th birthday – what better time to celebrate our favourite Canadian artists like the incredible Joni Mitchell.

Joni Mitchell: River, on now at The Grand Theatre, was the perfect sister night out.

Admittedly our fondness for Joni Mitchell started after watching Love Actually (13 years ago!! what.. now I feel older)

Joni Mitchell’s iconic songs are brought to life on stage by Emm Gryner, Louise Pitre and Brendan Wall. The show is a theatrical concert (yes.. no dialogue) that as the director Allen MacInnis says “is inspired by the remarkable insight contained within the poetry of her songs.”

Something I found fascinating was the fact that 18 guitars were needed to put this show on; All 18 guitars came from the London community. There was a casting call for guitars in June. Yup.. a guitar audition! Love it.

If you go to the show, make sure you head up to the 3rd level of The Grand Theatre to check out photos of the guitars. Yup.. the guitars got photo shoots (love it) and the guitars even reveal what their favourite songs are!! (sooo love it!)

Joni Mitchell: River runs until November 5.
