To us he is Alex P. Keaton, Marty McFly, Scott Howard, Brantley Foster, Dr. Benjamin Stone, Mike Flaherty & so many more. But at the end of the day, he is Michael J. Fox (no the ‘J’ does not stand for ‘JACK’, we asked), comedian, author, producer, writer and activist for Parkinson’s research through the Michael J. Fox Foundation (and proof that even Edmonton can give us something good every now and then ????).

Despite all the challenges he has faced since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 29 and most recently having a benign tumour removed from his spine (and having to re-learn to walk), he has continued to give us a lifetime of laughs and memories (appearing in over 41 movies & TV shows). Sadly because of the health challenges he faces daily, he is retiring from acting.

“There is a time for everything, and my time of putting in a twelve-hour workday, and memorizing seven pages of dialogue, is best behind me,” Fox writes in his latest memoir ‘No Time Like The Future’. “At least for now, I enter a second retirement. That could change, because everything changes. But if this is the end of my acting career, so be it.”

If he is indeed walking away from the screen, he leaves us with so many great movies, shows and roles to relive & share with our children for generations to come, so we thought we’d share our favourite Michael J. Fox roles.

Marty McFly – Back To The Future

How could we not start this off without Marty McFly taking over the Enchantment Under The Sea dance in 1955 so his parents could have their first kiss?

“Wait, you don’t understand. You gotta play. If there’s no music they can’t dance. If they can’t dance they can’t kiss, if they can’t kiss, they can’t fall in love and I’m history!”

Alex P. Keaton – Family Ties

Michael Flaherty – Spin City

Michael Flaherty was the best Deputy mayor NYC has ever had! No spoilers, but the series ends with the greatest Family Ties tie-in ever!

Brantley Foster/Carleton Whitfield – Secret Of My Success

Scott Howard – Teen Wolf

and lastly, you have to have a blooper reel! (NSFW)
