Do you remember being a kid at school? Do you remember how much fun you had on the playground? Were you aware of how essential that playground was for your social development at the time?

Lord Elgin Public School in London does not have a playground. Do you know what the kids do at recess to pass the time? They use their imaginations to pick weeds and replant them. That actually happens. Lord Elgin is among the poorest schools in Ontario. Playgrounds are especially important in low income neighbourhoods.

Let’s help this school raise some funds so the kids can have a proper place to play and use their imaginations!

Dr. Karen Geukers of Western University has set up a GoFundMe page to help raise funds.

$65,000 is the goal needed for the playground. So far, just over $15,000 has been raised.

Please share and help get the word out there!

Stax, Meghan, and Loop caught up with Dawn Ruddick, the principal of Lord Elgin to learn more about the importance of playgrounds for development of young brains.
