Alanis Morissette's 'Jagged Little Pill' - The Musical!

Come 2018, Alanis Morissette’s 1995 album Jagged Little Pill will debut as a musical!

The project has been in the works since 2013, but up until now, no details have been revealed about the show.

The musical is set to follow a family with multiple generations, and touch on themes like race and gender identity.

Tony-winner Diane Paulus has signed on to direct and premiere the show at the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody will write the storyline, and Tony and Pulitzer winning composer Tom Kitt will manage orchestral arrangements.

Morissette calls the project her ‘musical theatre dream come true’, she says, “The chemistry between all of us is crackling and I feel honoured to be diving into these songs again, surrounded by all of this searing talent. Diablo and Diane are already taking these deeply personal songs that are part of my soul’s marrow to a whole other level of hope, freedom and complexity.”
