The internet exploded this week when footage from the filming of a new movie called A Dog’s Purpose went viral.  The scene in question features a dog floating down the rapids and to film it, they used a real dog and a tank.  The video shows a dog that seemingly does not want to participate being forced into a tank of warm water followed by another seen where his is floating through the tank but gets pulled by the current and a trainer has to step in and help the dog.     This is the video in question:

Now I do agree that something about this isn’t right and I don’t know why the entire scene couldn’t be done with CGI.  However, as a dog owner I can see this from a slightly different angle too.

Hitting the road with my buddy Bruiser.

My 55lb boxer is not a fan of water either and will put up an equally resistant fight to his own baths and even walking in the rain, luckily no one sees us struggle with that.

Bruiser hates rain.
Bruiser hates rain.

In no way do I approve of an animal being terrified and upset but I also think, we may not have a full understanding of what is happening here.  The good news is, it is being investigated and someone far more skilled than us will decide if there was actual wrongdoing.

Here’s the trailer for the movie and you have to admit it looks incredible, but at what cost?
Will you boycott  A Dog’s Purpose?
