Sting hosted the biennial Rainforest Fund benefit concert at Carnegie Hall in New York yesterday, where a slew of stars took the stage, including James Taylor,  Idina Menzel and Bruce Springsteen! Most people stuck to performing Christmas classics, but Springsteen also branched out into ‘Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out’.. Take a look!

This year marked the 27th year for the fund, and the idea is for performers to raise awareness for the work the Rainforest Fund provides to communities of indigenous peoples throughout Brazil and other countries, including Belize, Cameroon, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, among others. This year they celebrated the government’s ruling against a pipeline project near the Standing Rock Sioux reservation in North Dakota.

This year’s event was called ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ with the appropriate subtitle ‘but getting warmer.’

Bruce Springsteen kicked off his performance with ‘Santa Claus is coming to town’, then followed up with ‘Merry Christmas Baby’. As you’ll see in this video, Springsteen spends much of the song interacting with the audience, taking selfies, and still manages to bang out the holiday tune!

The singer finished his set on stage with Rolling Stones backup singer Lisa Fischer, for this rendition of ‘Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out’:
