Being an adult sucks.. no summer camp for us! We can only long for summers off getting in to trouble (and maybe falling in love) at Summer Camp!

Relive the fun with these amazing summer camp movies.

Heavyweights (1995)

Jerry, an overweight pre-teen, is sent to a “fat farm” for the summer, lured by the promise of go-karts and swimming fun. When he arrives, however, he finds that the camp has been bought out by Ben Stiller, an exercise/fitness guru whose mental stability quickly deteriorates.

Camp Nowhere (1994)

Morris “Mud” Himmel’s parents want to send him to summer camp, which Mud is adamantly against. Fearing another “boring” summer, Mud plots with a group of his friends (and blackmails former drama teacher Dennis Van Welker) to fool his parents into sending him to a made-up camp where there are no rules — and no parents allowed.

The Parent Trap (1961, 1998)

The original or the Lindsay Lohan remake, both stories epic. It’s your classic “separated-at-birth identical twins who run into each other at summer” story. Who doesn’t love a classic “parent trap” situation.

Meatballs (1979)

Such an iconic summer camp movie. Bill Murray stars as the head counselor of a group of new counselors-in-training (CITs) at Camp North Star, a cut-rate summer camp.

The movie was filmed at Camp White Pine and other locations near Haliburton, Ontario. While filming the movie in 1978, Camp White Pine continued business as usual, resulting in many campers and staff members being used as extras and secondary characters in the film.

Addams Family Values (1993)

In this sequel to The Addams Family, Wednesday (Christina Ricci) and her brother Pugsley (Jimmy Workman) attend Camp Chippewa and battle against their perfect blonde campers. Perfect for campers who just don’t fit in.

Camp (2003)

The film centers on the experiences of several teenagers at Camp Ovation, a summer theatre camp. The campers are a mishmash of youngsters from different backgrounds, dealing with different issues, but all feel most comfortable while performing.

Friday the 13th (1980)

You won’t want to end up at camp (or even go outside alone) after seeing this movie. This slasher film tells the story of a group of teenagers who are murdered one by one while attempting to re-open an abandoned campground.

Wet Hot American Summer (2001)

This is a must see. Starring Janeane Garofalo, Molly Shannon, David Hyde Pierce, Michael Showalter, Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, this movie has a cult following. Wet Hot American Summer is set on the last day at Camp Firewood in 1981. Heads up – It’s rated R for a reason.

Indian Summer (1993)

This early 90’s camp flick features a group of camp friends who meet up at their old summer hang out when they are in their 30s. It’s an amazing cast including Diane Lane, Kevin Pollak, Bill Paxton, and Elizabeth Perkins.. plus it’s set in Canada’s beautiful Algonquin Park. Rumour has it, it’s loosely based on the inventors of ROOTS clothing (who attend this camp as kids)
