Regulations in London, Ontario are about to change as London Health Sciences announced as of June 30th there will be no smoking on LHSC property. Changes to the Smoke-Free Ontario Act in January mean that all hospitals must be smoke-free environments.

lhsc Currently the LHSC smoking policy states:

As a health care agency, London Health Sciences Centre is committed to providing a safe and smoke-free environment to all of its patients/clients, staff and visitors. LHSC has established a non-smoking policy, which governs all of its facilities across the organization. Any smoking must be done outside the facilities in designated areas no less than nine metres from any entrance.

Once the new rules take effect smoking anywhere on hospital properties including buildings, grounds and parking lots will be prohibited and will apply to cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars or pipes containing burning tobacco, or any other substance (such as marijuana) that can be smoked in any other manner.
